The Return of Kingsland Seniors Lunch and Learn

After a long hiatus due to COVID-19, Kingsland once again hosted its yearly Lunch and Learn event for the community’s senior members. The lunch, coupled with the Crime Prevention and Safety talk on May 6, was a huge success!

The Lunch

The complimentary lunch was a delightful and plentiful affair. A special shout-out and thank you goes to Trico Living Well, who generously provided the delicious soup and an array of assorted sandwiches free of charge. Their remarkable contribution was sincerely appreciated! A heartfelt thank you also goes out to Brandi Young, (Trico Sales Manager) who ensured the seamless coordination with Trico Living Well to make the lunch an enjoyable experience for everyone.

The Learn

After lunch, everyone was invited to enjoy a conversation with Calgary Police Constables, Michelle Janson and Bonita McCarthy, who delivered a very informative presentation on the various scams targeting seniors. Their ability to blend valuable information with their light-hearted humour, created a very lively and enjoyable atmosphere. These two Constables were an amazing and fun team that will not be soon forgotten.

Valuable Community Volunteers

A very special thank you goes out to our dedicated volunteers, Donna David, Cheryl Lamb, Iwona Piotrowski, and Lorraine Feddema, who managed all the additional details. In addition, a notable mention also has to be given to Lorraine who baked and donated 36 beautifully decorated cupcakes and hand-painted butterfly cookies for dessert, adding a sweet touch to the event.

In closing, the collective efforts of everyone involved ensured that the Spring Seniors’ Lunch and Learn was a wonderful and enriching experience for our community’s seniors. Good food, good company, and lots of laughs made this event a memorable one. But most importantly, the safety lessons learned that afternoon could keep our seniors from ever becoming a victim of crime, and that’s a happy thought!
