Keep up to Date – Sign Up for Email Updates

Things can and do change, and quickly. The newsletter is not frequent enough to communicate things that are changing on short notice in regards to the community association, the community centre, and community events.

So, in order for us to keep you up to date, please register your email address near the bottom of the first page of our website. Our email list is then updated to include your email address. The website is www.cliffbungalowmission.com.

Recruiting A Couple Positions

The Social Director and Heritage Director positions are vacant. There is more information elsewhere in this newsletter on these positions. If anyone is interested in exploring these positions, please contact me at c[email protected].

Lilac Festival 2024

This year’s Lilac Festival is on Sunday, June 2 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. We will have a table near the SE corner of 4 Street and 21 Avenue SW. Come and visit with us. Memberships and history books will be sold, and you can pick up newsletters and information on community activities.

Mission Possible 2024

Mission Possible 2024 will take place on Saturday, June 15. This is an outdoor event with entertainment, food trucks, a member beverage area, and a bouncy castle. Of course, if it rains, we will be inside the hall. Either way, it is a fun event that celebrates our community. It started in 2013 as a result of the flood.

Mission Possible is our equivalent of Neighbour Day that started in 2014. We were basically the forerunner of this city-wide day. More details will be emailed closer to the event. Would you like to help? Contact me at [email protected].

Picnic Potluck 2024

This year’s Picnic Potluck is on Sunday, July 14. Weather permitting, this is held outdoors in the park on the south side of the community building. If the weather is bad, it will be held indoors. Set up is at 4:00 pm and the event is at 5:00 pm.

West Elbow Local Area Plan

The in-progress West Elbow Local Area Plan will replace our Cliff Bungalow and Mission Area Redevelopment Plans. Part of this process is to identify areas where increased density will be allowed. While we already have relatively high density allowed, this will increase in many parts of our community and could impact where you live.

Phase Two of the process began on May 28 and will go to June 24. A booklet from the City is to be delivered around May 28. In it, there will be map(s) showing the areas where increased density is proposed. Please review this information and provide comments to the City. Also let us know what you think. Emails can be sent to [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected]. In the subject line, put “West Elbow LAP”.

History Book Available at Community Events

We have sold over 650 copies of our award-winning history book. Learn about the history of your community in a very readable text with lots of pictures and maps. The cost is still $30 (basically cost recovery). Copies are available at all events at the community centre. This a great book for summer reading.
