Keep up to Date – Sign Up for Email Updates

Things can and do change, and quickly. The newsletter is not frequent enough to communicate things that are changing on short notice in regards to the community association, the community centre, and community events.

So, in order for us to keep you up to date, please register your email address near the bottom of the first page of our website. Our email list is then updated to include your email address. The website is www.cliffbungalowmission.com.

Board Update

Andrea Llewellyn has joined the board as a Director at Large. Sameena Darr’s role has changed to Director at Large working on the Archivist Project.

Another Sold Out Jazz Event on March 5

We had another sold-out jazz event on Wednesday, March 5. It featured The Rubeling/DeJong Quartet. This was their first appearance at our venue. We ran out of chairs and some people had to stand. At the end of the program, there was a standing ovation.

All the jazz groups that play at our venue are local musicians. Many write jazz music. Each has their own style, but all are very good. Next time we recommend you come early, enjoy a beverage, and get a good seat.

History Book Third Printing Available

The third printing of our award-winning history book is available for purchase at all our events at the community centre. This is a great way of learning the history of the community in which you live. They are great as gifts. We have sold over 700 books so far. They are still only $30 (cost recovery).

Casino 2025

Our next casino is scheduled for Friday, August 29 and Saturday, August 30. The venue this time is the Elbow River Casino which is walking distance from our community. This is an important fundraiser, and we need many volunteers. Contact me at [email protected] to get more information and a volunteer form. Put “Casino 2025” in the subject line.

Featured Wall Painting at a Local Restaurant

It was a very cold evening in early February. My flight was cancelled so I was free to do other things. I told a community friend what had happened, and she suggested we have dinner at one of the places along 4th Street. We ended up at Blowers & Grafton. They have recently done a renovation. One of the new features is a full-size wall mural of a light house. We liked it so much that she took a picture of it. Here is the picture. Thanks to Lynn Becker for taking the picture and of course to Blowers & Grafton.

New Online Membership Platform

With the help of volunteer Kris Morton, we are in the final stages of creating a new online membership platform. When operational, you will get a digital membership card, and our membership database will automatically be updated. Our current membership system is too difficult for volunteers to keep updated and cards issued. You can still get the hard copy member cards at any community event at the community centre.
