Pride Parade
Pride Parade this year is on Sunday, September 1. The Cliff Bungalow – Mission Community Association was planning to apply to walk in the parade for the fourth time. Unfortunately, we missed the application deadline. While we will be spectators this year, there will be a new feature in our community at that time. Montessori School, with whom we share Cliff Bungalow School, has purchased a Pride Flag, and it will fly for several days around the time of the parade.
Community Clean Up
Our annual Community Clean Up is slotted for Sunday, September 8, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm (don’t be late). This is your opportunity to get rid of items you do not want/need. The City will provide garbage trucks. There will also be electronic and metal recycling. We will have tables for people to drop off still useful items for pick by others. Whatever is left over will go to Women in Need. Keep an eye on our website for details on this event.
Community Check-In 2019 Survey is Now Available Online to the End of August
There is an online survey to obtain the current perspectives of our residents on the future of the community. This will help us better represent the overall community perspective when dealing with major redevelopment proposals. We will have it on our website until the end of August. Head to our website homepage and follow the link to our survey. We hope you will take a little time to participate. It is important to the future of our community.
Grand Opening of Pocket Square
The new Pocket Square at 17th Avenue and 5A Street SW was officially opened on Thursday, June 27. It is a unique project from many different perspectives, including the local creation of the furniture, which was made from recycled plastic. Secondly, it was a community-led project that involved many stakeholders including the Cliff Bungalow – Mission Community Association. A key person in connecting all the groups together was Kate Zago, who is on our Board. Special thanks to Kate.
Thank You Birgit
We want to thank Birgit Schinke for providing Yoga sessions in our hall from April 1 to June 24. The feedback from the participants was very positive. She did not charge the participants for this, but took donations, which she in turn has donated to CBMCA. The amount collected was $415. She may come back again for some special Saturday sessions.
Congratulations to Shannon and Scott
We want to congratulate Shannon Macleod and Scott McKenna on their marriage on June 22. Shannon is our Environment Director and Scott is on our Planning and Development Committee.
