Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting was held on Wednesday, November 20. The theme of our AGMs is celebrating our community. We had lots to celebrate as was evident from the reports presented.
The following is the new Board for the next year: Bob Lang – President, Rob Jobst – Vice President, Rick Williams – Secretary, Lucy Arellano – Treasurer, Robin Thompson – Environment Director, Sameena Darr – Heritage Director and Directors at Large Brandon Hossack, Zaak Karim, Ted Knudtson, Nick Kuhl and Mo Saiepour. We welcome Trina Lo as the new communications Director.
We have had an expression of interest for the Social Director position. We will interview that person in January.
Four people were presented with Community Hero Awards – three at the AGM and one at the December 1 potluck event. More details are provided elsewhere in this issue.
Many people helped during the last year. We thank everyone who helped make this a successful year.
Celebrating 46 Years
The community association was incorporated as a registered society on November 29, 1978. So, we celebrated 46 years of community service in November 2024. Many volunteers over the years helped do all the things we have done and accomplished during the last 46 years. Thanks to all who have contributed.
We Had to Set Up an Extra Table at Our Potluck on December 1
We had more people than average at our potluck on December 1 and we added an extra table and chairs. This is a great sign during this busy time of year. Elis and Murray Hiebert provided song books and led everyone in song. Thanks to them for doing this. Next potluck is Sunday, January 12.
History Book Third Printing Available
The third printing of our award-winning history book is available for purchase at all our events at the community centre. This is a great way of learning the history of the community in which you live. They are great as gifts. We have sold over 700 books so far. Still only $30 (cost recovery).
Casino 2025
Our next casino will be scheduled in the third quarter of 2025 (July, August, September). We will let you know the dates when AGLC releases the dates to us. This is an important fundraiser, and we need many volunteers.
