April 19 to 25 is National Volunteer Week. Not-for-profits, like North Glenmore Park Community Association, operate so much better because of the power of the volunteers who share their talents with us. I want to give a shout out to my fellow board members who commit time, talent and energy to the many areas requiring governance and oversight. You are amazing!
We required another 35 to 40 volunteers for our casino on April 2 and 3, all coordinated by one of our board members, Amir Eisenberg. Thanks to our volunteers’ time and effort, we will have another 55,000 to 70,000 dollars to support facility and program enhancements.
And then there are the rink volunteers. The play group volunteers. The event volunteers. The Snow Angels in our communities. The list could go on and on.
I work in Mental Health, and the one common factor in supporting our families, friends, co-workers and neighbours is connection. We connect when we care about others and volunteering is connection in action. Thank you all for making our community a better place.
