We have been liaising with the City on the new ‘Guidelines for Great Communities’ and its increased density implications on Oakridge and adjacent communities. There is opportunity over the next few months to provide your input to the City. We have collaborated with Palliser, Bayview, Pump Hill (PBPCA), Braeside, Cedarbrae, Woodbine and Woodlands (Woodcreek CA), who are all in District 32 Planning Area. We jointly organized a meeting with the City planners, FCC and Ward 11 representation to discuss early input to a Multi-discipline Local Area Plan (LAR). The City does not plan to commence a District 32 until after 2022. We have communicated a need to address significant development initiatives, in particular in S. Glenmore Park, ahead of 2022. Two projects, the Bike Skills Park (https://www.parksfdn.com/bike-skills-park) and the Quinterra Legacy Park (https://quinterralegacygarden.com/) are planned to be constructed this Spring/ Summer 2020.

Co-op are still working on getting the City of Calgary to release the Development Permit for this redevelopment. Co-op are hoping that it will be received at the end of March, but they do not have confirmation on this yet. Ward 11 Boundary Changes; take a look at the City’s plans and express your concerns if you have any to the Returning Officer. The City states that “The City determined that Wards 3, 7, and 12 have population deviations and Ward 5 has an elector count deviation inconsistent with the Policy…” However, the two scenarios, A or B, proposed by the City significantly impact Ward 11 boundaries. There is limited information on why there is not a Scenario C with no change to Ward 11 boundaries. https://engage.calgary.ca/wardboundaries
