Further details on the Public Hearing starting on April 22, please refer to https://www.calgary.ca/council/meetings/agenda-minutes.html.

For further understanding on how this may impact Local Area Plans (LAP), including boundaries for District 32, please refer to https://www.calgary.ca/planning/local-area.html.

For other perspectives, please refer to newspaper articles on the legal challenge to rezoning like this one: https://calgaryherald.com/opinion/columnists/bell-blanket-rezoning-goes-to-court-another-city-of-calgary-headache.

RioCan Development at Glenmore Landing

We did have some dialogue with City staff on the ‘Traffic Impact Assessment’ who were most helpful and discussed the multiple traffic challenges. They have encouraged Urban Systems who represent RioCan to meet with us but to date we have not had a response from Urban Systems. https://www.calgary.ca/planning/projects/glenmore-landing.html.

A different perspective on the development but similar concerns with traffic can be found at https://www.stopthetowers.ca/traffic-concerns.

More recently, on June 24, the City issued Circulation Package for LOC2023-0130 – 9045 14 St SW, 1600 90 Ave SW, 1630 90 Ave SW. It appears that the number of future occupants has increased significantly, and comments are due no later than July 22 on https://dmap.calgary.ca/?find=LOC2023-0130.

Co-op Redevelopment

Co-op construction is continuing, and they remain on track for a spring 2025 completion date. No further updates are available, but you can see https://www.calgarycoop.com/locations/oakridge-2/ for more information.

Oakridge Area Upgrade Projects

We still need someone on the OCA board or a new member of the OCA board to take on this important task.

Regarding road safety and improvements, some examples of speeding, distracted driving, and noncompliance were observed during the OMO run and at other times.

Road calming is still planned at Palliser Dr and 29 St but has been postponed by approximately one year. In early July, the City shared with us their proposal and we have provided comments and requested clarifications. Other locations of concern to residents were assessed by the City as not warranting any upgrades. Please use the City of Calgary 3-1-1 line or https://www.calgary.ca/311.html to report your concerns.
