Rutland Park Development and Traffic Report for September

I would just like to highlight what has been happening/going on behind the scenes this past month, in no particular order:

Just a reminder that our Community Cleanup will be on September 29. Thank you, Sue H. and Chantal O. for organizing this event again this year! Please reach out to Sue H. at [email protected] if you are able to volunteer for this event.

We hope you have had a wonderful summer! Our board meetings resume again this month, and our annual AGM will be in November. We hope you can join us!

Thank you to community member Cheryl A. for commissioning our second Proof of Loss for the hall insurance for free. Every act of kindness is important and appreciated!

We have submitted our second Proof of Loss to our insurance company and are still waiting on confirmation of how much they are prepared to cover. This continues to delay any repairs to the hall. We have almost used up all of the exceptional funding that the City is providing to cover our ongoing expenses. We hope the insurance company will expedite our claim to minimize our losses.

We have provided feedback for the Sarina development application for the Richmond Green Regional Park baseball diamonds. We continue to object to a six-storey development across the entire east side of the site and 400+ units on the site when the City indicated it would allow for approximately 284 units. Please watch for further updates and stay engaged.

In 2019 we supported a mixed-use development redesignation for a Richard Road site that would allow for 891 units on the site. The developer is now asking to redesignate to almost double that number of units! We are opposed.

At the time of writing, the City is under Stage One Outdoor Watering Restrictions. Please check our Facebook site for further updates.

If you have not already signed up for our email updates, please do so at our website, www.rutlandparkcommunity.com. The City often gives us very short notice for upcoming events, and this is the quickest way for us to reach you. Please also join us on our Facebook page—Rutland Park Community Association.

Thank you for your ongoing support.
