I would just like to highlight what has been happening/going on behind the scenes this past month, in no particular order:
- I just wanted to say thank you to Srimal Ranasinghe for his service as our Currie liaison for the past few years—we have appreciated his involvement and will miss him on our Board. We are hoping that another Currie resident will step in and join the Board as our Currie liaison—it is important that residents have a contact person and a voice in community decision making.
- We are also hoping that we can get a subcommittee of residents who would be interested in heading a community event or two. Individuals would be welcome to attend Board meetings, but it would not be an expectation. We know that many hands make light work–we can’t expect one person to be the muscle for all of the events we would like to host. If you are interested, please let me know what kind of event you would like to spearhead, and when you would like to organize it. Thanks for getting involved!
- We wanted to give a special shout out to Greg Winnicki and his crew of “Rink Rats” for the excellent work they have done on our ice once again! They take great pride in having some of the best ice in the City, and we have received compliments from a number of sources. Thank you for helping to bring us all together! Your hard work is much appreciated.
- We just wanted to say thank you to Chartwell Royal Park for being such good neighbours. They regularly offer free fitness classes to our residents, and hosted our February Board meeting because our hardwood floors were being refinished in the Hall. Thank you for your ongoing support.
- O2 Planning Group has recently put in a land-use redesignation application for the Atco Lands along Peacekeepers Way. We look forward to seeing their vision for the area.
- Thank you all for your patience as the overpass was removed at Glenmore and 37 St SW. The City worked to mitigate the disruption and noise caused by this project, but residents were inconvenienced. Do keep an eye on our Facebook page for the short notice impacts we receive from the City.
If you have not already signed up for our email updates, please do so at our website– rutlandparkcommunity.com. The City often gives us very short notice for upcoming events, and this is the quickest way for us to reach you. Please also join us on Facebook—Rutland Park Community Association, and Currie Community. Thank you for your ongoing support.
