Rutland Park’s February Development Report

I would just like to highlight what has been happening/going on behind the scenes this past month, in no particular order:

  1. Thank you to all of you who attended our Annual AGM. We appreciate your ongoing support and hope to get even more people involved in the years ahead! We hope that 2020 is off to a great start for all of you.
  2. Please welcome Don Witmer to our Board. He has taken on two positions with us—Lincoln Park Liaison and Treasurer. We are very thankful that he has joined us!
  3. I have written a letter to our MLA Nicholas Milliken in support of AGLC Proceeds for Not for Profit Groups. It has been suggested that the provincial government is looking to claim the casino funds as a way to reduce the current deficit. Unfortunately, this would have a huge negative impact on many groups, including our Community Association. These funds help us provide some programming, and are essential to the maintenance of our buildings. Without these funds, it is likely that one day we would have to return the Community Hall and Skateshack back to the City, as we would not be able to maintain them per the contract that we have with the City in the form of our Licence of Occupation. Casino funds are critical to our operation. If you are asked for input at some point, please support AGLC Proceeds for Not for Profits!

If you have not already signed up for our email updates, please do so at our website, rutlandparkcommunity.com. The City often gives us very short notice for upcoming events, and this is the quickest way for us to reach you. Please also join us on Facebook—Rutland Park Community Association, and Currie Community. Thank you for your ongoing support.
