September Musings in Rutland Park

As this goes to print, the Olympics are on. So far, we have two medals: silver and bronze. Looking back on our history reminds me of how exciting it was for Calgary to host our own Olympics back in ‘88. At the time, I was your President, and we tried to make sure our community showed pride in what was about to take place. Frank King visited us one evening to share details about the planning, and Hidy and Howdy came to one of our winter carnivals. It was great to see them. One of our community residents took part in the opening ceremonies, and yet another carried the torch in the famous torch run. Some of us volunteered at the Olympic Plaza as well. It was magic, and I for one still think we have so much to be proud of. After all, we will always be an Olympic City. I hope a lot of you still have your own special memories.

Well, summer is nearly gone, and what a summer it was. I hope fall will be good to us. So many folks have endured sadness, let’s keep them in our prayers.

The cleanup event is fast approaching, if you can volunteer or help, please let the Committee know.

Thanks, and as always take time to smell the roses. Enjoy this photo from our Calgary Stampede.

Cheers,

Isabell
