Building a Connected and Vibrant Community!
SECA is all about bringing people together, and now we have a Community Connector to help us do just that! Meet Anya Pena Egle, who is engaging with residents, strengthening local connections, and uncovering community strengths and opportunities. You may spot her at pop-up stations around the neighbourhood, or at Picnic in the Park on June 7! A huge thank you to The City for funding this valuable work.
Upcoming Events – Save the Date!
• Second Annual Picnic in the Park – June 7, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Rainbow Park, 1611 Evergreen Drive SW). We’re bringing back favourite activities from last year and adding some new fun. Shawnee Evergreen residents and their guests are invited to enjoy complimentary games, food, and community spirit.
• SECA Casino Fundraiser – June 22 and 23 (Deerfoot Inn & Casino). Our casino allows us to support programs and initiatives all year long. Volunteers are still needed to fill some of the 36 shifts. It’s a fun way to contribute to your community! Interested? Email [email protected] to sign up.
• Community Cleanup – September 20 at South Gate Alliance Church. Please save up your electronics for this event. The rebate from the electronics collected last year was sizeable and supported our community events.
Thank You to Our Supporters!
Our Picnic in the Park wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of our community partners whose contributions help bring people together to celebrate, connect, and create lasting memories!
• A heartfelt thank you to the City of Calgary – Arts and Culture Microgrant for supporting events across the City including our Picnic.
• Thanks to Zeno Renewables, Servus Credit Union, and Cardel Homes for their generosity towards community-building and sustainability.
