We are very happy to have been awarded a Community Cleanup event by the City again this year. Save the expense of a trip to the dump by taking advantage of our Community Cleanup – Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm in the parking lot at South Gate Alliance Church (James McKevitt Road at Evergreen Street SW).
• City packer trucks will take oversized household items.
o No paper, cardboard, or other recyclable products, please.
• New – Confidential paper shredding
o For household documents (non-commercial)
o This service is free for SECA members, $10 for non-members. Memberships ($20) may be purchased on-site by credit card, cash, or cheque.
• Electronics recycling
o Including most items with a cord, i.e. TVs, computers, small/medium household appliances. No large appliances.
o See a detailed list of what is accepted and what isn’t at technotrash.ca.
• Metal recycling
o No gas bottles, cylinders, aerosols, or tin cans
• Collection of bikes and beverage containers by Cerebral Palsy Alberta
• Collection of gently used household items by Women in Need Society (WINS)
• Collection of books for SECA’s Little Free Libraries
o Books in good condition will be accepted.
o No cookbooks, please.
Casino Fundraiser
September 24 and 25 at Deerfoot Inn & Casino
This is by far our biggest source of community funds. Thank you to the over 30 dedicated volunteers who are supporting this event for the benefit of the entire community.
Annual General Meeting
October 24, 7:00 pm at South Gate Alliance Church
This meeting is a chance to hear what SECA has been up to this past year and to contribute to future plans.

• Art in the Park with Nurture Nest, on September 23. Registration required.
• Families in Nature with Urban Wild Calgary, on September 24. Registration required.
• Adventure Play (a loose parts play program) with Get Outside and Play, on September 17. No registration is required. Drop in to the green space between the playground and the dog park on Shawnee Blvd.
