Season’s Greetings!
Well, this certainly has been an unusual and challenging year for everyone. However, just as I am on the verge of giving up watching the news, some rays of hope appear on the horizon. So, with that note of hope, and on behalf of the SHCA Board, I’ll start off by wishing you all a safe and happy holiday season, with prospects for a better year ahead.
“Thank-you” to the Board
As we close out the year 2020, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members of the Board of Directors. While we have had to cancel most of our typical community events this year, and seen some reduction in revenues, the board members have remained active and ensured the ongoing viability of the association. I sincerely appreciate the efforts of the team in continued pursuit of our goals and ongoing support for the community.
Rink Operations
Hopefully by the time you read this, we will have our rinks in operation, and you can enjoy some of the best outdoor ice in Calgary. However, this year our rink status will depend on two things – the weather, and potential COVID-19 restrictions. As a minimum, we unfortunately will need to keep our changeroom closed due to expected ongoing restrictions around indoor activity. Please stay tuned to our website – shca.ca – as the winter progresses to check status and plans with respect to our rinks.
I would also like to thank all those dedicated rink volunteers who have signed up to assist again this year, along with a few new recruits. While we do have a full complement at this point, if you are interested in becoming a rink volunteer, please contact Rob at [email protected].
New Signage
If you’ve walked or driven by our site recently, hopefully you have noticed the new signage – a large banner on the southwest corner of the rink, and a sign at the parking lot entrance (if not, this month’s cover will provide a glimpse). We thought it was about time to provide some SHCA identifiers on our site and facilities – and of course include a reminder to Become A Member.
