I hope everyone is enjoying summer so far.
We hare rescheduled the community cleanup to take place on Sunday, July 16. It will run from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at the community hall (11 Sackville Dr SW). We are looking for volunteers to help run this successful event.
We have noticed that there is an increase in graffiti at the skatepark. If you are someone who doesn’t like this, we suggest that you submit a 311 report. The City is quick to respond to these requests. It only takes a couple of minutes if you submit through the 311 app.
A huge shout out to the community members that who near the Anderson LRT station. I saw on Facebook that they have come together to do monthly cleanups around their area and are all looking out for one another. This is the best way to build community and I wanted to let you know that I appreciate the steps you are all taking to making Southwood the best neighbourhood it can be! Keep up the great work, everyone!
Do you have a knack for gardening and are looking for a few more projects to take on this summer? The CA is looking for volunteers to help maintain the gardens at the community hall. We are looking to redesign these spaces so we can limit the number of weeds that come in as well as limiting maintenance. Please reach out to Amanda at [email protected].
Changes are coming to the outside of the hall this summer and we are looking for volunteers to help build flower boxes and benches! If you are handy or are looking to expand your carpentry skills, let’s connect! We would really appreciate some extra hands to get this wonderful community space finished this summer.
