Happy New Year!

I hope you had a wonderful and restful holiday season as we step into 2026 together.

I’m pleased to share that both the Springbank Hill and Montreux outdoor rinks are now open for the season. These rinks are a highlight of winter in our community, and we are grateful to the dedicated volunteers who work so hard each year to prepare and maintain them. You can learn more in the rink article featured in this newsletter.

Please also join me in welcoming John Pantazopoulos, our newly elected City Councillor for Ward 6. You’ll find more about Councillor Pantazopoulos in this issue. We are working on scheduling a meet and greet for Springbank Hill residents to meet with John in the first quarter of 2026, and we look forward to sharing details soon.

Keeping Springbank Hill Safe

A few reminders for keeping our neighbourhood safe and enjoyable:

• Please drive with extra care during snowy and icy conditions and be mindful of pedestrians.

• Although Springbank Hill is a safe community, it’s still important to report any thefts or suspicious activity—even incidents that may seem minor, such as defaced address plates. These reports can help the Calgary Police Service connect related cases. You can reach their non-emergency line at 403-266-1234.

If you have questions, ideas, or concerns, I welcome you to contact me at [email protected].

Warm wishes for a happy and healthy year ahead,

Shelly Smith

President, SBHCA
