Woodcreek Executive Message for May

Hello Woodcreek Residents,

With spring here, our community police liaison would like to state a couple of reminders. It’s bike season – please register your bike with the Calgary Bike Index. If your bike is stolen, this is the best way to ensure it makes its way back to you if it is found. That time of year where we clean up our yards has arrived – please don’t leave your garage door open if you are not in direct line of sight. Tools and garage content go missing that way!

We have many events in our community this month, which is a great way to get out and meet other community members. Woodcreek Mini Basketball starts May 3, which is free but does require registration. Learn to play the Ukelele for adults is May 10. The community cleanup is on Saturday, May 13, be sure to purchase your community membership in advance. The Adult Spring Dance (with a live band!) is set for Saturday, May 27.

The Pickleball and Tennis Courts are now open – you need a valid WCA membership as well as a WCA Racquet membership to use and book the courts.

Our summer 50/50 raffle is back, open from May 1 to June 15. We’re fundraising this year for some much-needed community events equipment. Last year’s winner took home over $2,500 – help us double that this year by purchasing your tickets! The link can be found on our website, www.woodcreekcommunity.ca.

We have managed to secure a grant through ActivateYYC to install roadside bump outs and paint the crossing by the entrance to Woodborough Park. We’re looking for volunteers to help with this initiative – if you’re interested in participating, please contact the office.

The Good food box dates for May are orders due May 22, with pickup on May 31.

Jennifer Hogg

WCA 1st Vice President
