Hello Woodcreek!
Our new year is off to a good start, and we have lots of events planned throughout the year—something for everyone! For February, we have a Family Skate on the 22nd and Book Club on the 25th (the last Wednesday of the month).
The Good Food Box program continues this month, with an order deadline of February 16 for February 25 pickup. Over the festive season, there was tremendous support for the pantry, with 26 hampers going out—thank you to all who volunteered! Food insecurity is a year-round concern, so please consider buying a box and checking the option for a pantry donation.
Watch for more communication about an initiative to encourage resident engagement with each other and the community association. Zrinka and Don have been working on program details to be discussed at the January Board meeting. Last year, two Neighbour Day barbecues were hosted in addition to the Woodcreek Wheels event. This year, the goal is 20 neighbourhood gatherings—yes, 20! They don’t all need to take place on Neighbour Day, and organizers will be needed. Stay tuned for details on the support WCA can offer.
As this is written, the weather has turned warm, so it’s uncertain how badly the ice rinks will be affected. The rinks are often busy, with many community members skating and having fun. The ice rink crew works incredibly hard, and this year they even had to deal with outdoor water restrictions. Their dedication is greatly appreciated.
