Hello Woodcreek!
Last year at this time we were deep in the freeze; this week feels more like summer. Enjoy the warm spell while it lasts — though it likely marks the end of our ice rinks for the season. We had several well attended skating events this winter, and every time I stopped by the office, I saw neighbours enjoying the ice. A huge thank you to our hardworking rink crew for making that possible!
March is Community Awareness Month. Woodcreek is one of 156 community associations across Calgary, each providing valuable programs, events, and services powered by more than 20,000 volunteers city wide. Community Associations help connect neighbours, strengthen relationships, and make our neighbourhoods better places to live.
Your membership is one of the most important ways you can support this work. Memberships help us sustain programs, host events, and maintain facilities. You can purchase or renew your membership on our website at www.woodcreekcommunity.ca, using the “Buy a Membership†button at the top right. You can also log in to check your membership status — and you may find it has expired, as many have for various reasons. As a thank-you to our members, all residents of Woodcreek with a valid Woodcreek membership by March 31 will be entered into a draw to win a large Good Food Box.
We’ve begun a new initiative focused on helping Woodcreek residents get to know their neighbours. This work is guiding several improvements, including a refresh of our website that we’re actively working on. We believe a safe and happy community is one where neighbours know each other — follow us in the Chronicle, on social media, and sign up for our newsletter to stay informed on how you can participate.
Upcoming Events
Our Members Bingo Night will take place on March 13. We hope to see many of you out for an evening of fun and friendly competition.
Later in the month, we’ll be hosting our Easter Egg Hunt on March 28. This popular event fills up quickly, and advance registration will be required.
Good Food Box
The next Good Food Box order deadline is March 9, with pickup scheduled for March 18. If you miss that window, the following order deadline is April 13, with pickup on April 22. This is a great program for accessing affordable fresh produce.
