Hello Woodcreek!
Happy Easter! Winter has come and gone a few times this year, but hopefully the snow is behind us, and we can start thinking about lawns and gardens again.
You may have noticed the beautiful new wraps on several of our neighbourhood trash cans. Bud is currently working on grants to add more this year. Our planned utility‑box art updates remain on hold while we wait for Enmax to complete their box upgrades—we’re still awaiting a confirmed timeline.
In the coming weeks, you’ll begin to see more about our Know Your Neighbour initiative leading up to Neighbour Day in June. Strong communities grow from simple connections, and we’re excited to invite everyone to take part. Inside this issue you’ll find a small “Hi Neighbour” card—consider using it to introduce yourself to someone nearby. You can also follow along on our social media channels and help share the message as we work toward a more connected community.
April is a quieter month for events, with Book Club meeting on April 22 and again on May 27. Looking ahead, Paint and Sip is scheduled for May 8, and our Community Clean-Up will be held on May 9 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Bring your household refuse from spring cleaning, along with electronics, metal, bagged clothing, paint, tires, and batteries. We’re hoping to have a shredding truck again this year, though that is still being confirmed.
As we did last year, we’re encouraging neighbours to come together to tidy up the paths, alleys, and green spaces near their homes. If you’re interested in joining, please contact Graham at [email protected] so he can help coordinate teams. Last year’s learnings include:
· Advance registration helps. Knowing who plans to participate makes it easier to organize volunteers.
· Teams may be needed. Some residents prefer a team leader, and several cleanup areas are large enough to require multiple people.
· Pre‑identify priority sites. Volunteers appreciate knowing where their efforts are most needed.
· A central drop‑off point is useful. And having someone there to offer a thank‑you goes a long way.
The next Good Food Box order deadline is 4:00 pm on April 13 for April 22 pickup.
Looking forward to seeing everyone out and about this spring!
