Lots to tell you about this month!

The always popular “Tour of Lights” is scheduled for Thursday, December 12th, at 7:00 pm. This tour takes us through the south end of the city to view the many great light displays, while snacking and sipping some yummy treats. This is an adults-only event and you must have a current community membership to participate. This year, we have a minimum number of participants (30) required to sign up before December 6th, or we cannot run the tour. Please email me at [email protected] to sign up.

All 24 of the lights around the rinks have been changed over to energy efficient LED lights. This upgrade will certainly save the association money on our monthly utility costs, as well as providing brighter, faster lighting for our members using the rinks. Additional ice maintenance equipment will be coming soon to help speed up the time spent by our volunteers who maintain the rinks that everyone enjoys. If you think you could spare a couple hours each week, please contact me, and we can put you in touch with the “Rink Rats.” Before the ice goes in this year, the improvements to the flooring in the Rink Room should be complete. The new sport flooring will eliminate the need to lay down and pick up the heavy black mats we have been using for as long as I can remember…

Funding for the improvements to our community rinks and rink room comes from the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission’s shared casino revenue. Canyon Meadows Community Association is grateful for the opportunity to improve on these very well used facilities!

What a great segue way to my next reminder – our casino dates are February 8th & 9th. I have 19 spots in 2 shifts to fill for each day of the casino. Your meals are paid for and the parking is free and plentiful, so if you would like to help out, please email me ([email protected]) to sign up or find out more details.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for Saturday, November 23, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Come on over to the Lloyd Hand Hall for some early Christmas shopping at our Third Annual Christmas Craft Market. Please remember to bring a donation for the Calgary Food Bank.

Until next month,

Bonnie
