Hello Hawkwood!
As April arrives, many of us are turning our attention to spring cleanup around our homes. When it comes to our community parks, pathways, and boulevards, Hawkwood residents benefit from the work our LEAF Coordinator, Mark, puts in over the winter to have our landscape contractors ready to spiff up the neighbourhood when the snow thaws. Be sure to read Mark’s column for more information on what to expect this season.
Hawkwood’s community gardeners are also getting ready to work in their raised beds. If you are interested in renting a raised garden bed for the season, be sure to check that your HCA membership is current and go to HCA’s website (hawkwoodca.com) to get information on how to register.
Another sign of spring in Hawkwood is the start of our many outdoor programs and activities that run at the Hawkwood Community Park, including U4 to U10 soccer, and pickleball. Check our website (hawkwoodca.com) and our social media pages to keep up to date on the latest news related to these and other fun and exciting programs the HCA is working on bringing to the park. If you cannot find what you are looking for on the website, connect with HCA’s Facility and Program Coordinator, Alexandra at programs@hawkwoodca.com.
I also want to highlight the importance of signing up for volunteer positions if you or your family members are participating in HCA’s recreational programs. As the saying goes, many hands make for light work and, quite frankly, the sustainability of our programs relies on volunteers. Please fill the volunteer positions if you sign up for a program or event. You will meet your neighbours (which could be the start of some life-long friendships), giving back to your community will make you feel good, and you will feel more connected to the people around you!
Please send me an email at president@hawkwoodca.com if you have any questions, comments, or want to learn more about the HCA.
In gratitude and kindness,
Michele del Valle
