Hello Hawkwood!
I hope everyone has been enjoying the sunny days and the long summer nights we are so fortunate to experience at this time of year.
Last month, the HCA collaborated with our sponsor, Melissa Kost Realty Group, to coordinate Hawkwood’s Parade of Garage Sales on July 5. Thank you to Melissa Kost and HCA’s Facility and Program Coordinator, Alexandra Campbell, for planning and organizing the event. I hope many treasurers found new homes and the community-wide event was of benefit to the sellers!
I would also like to extend a sincere thank you to Alexandra, Andre, and all the volunteers who supported this year’s Community Cleanup on July 12 in the Hawkwood School parking lot. HCA partnered with the City of Calgary and the Arbour Lake Community Association to hold this event, which involved volunteers from both our communities working together. Each year, the demand for Community Cleanup events far exceeds the resources available to bring City of Calgary trucks and other recycling vendors to provide this free service to neighbourhoods around the city. Going forward, Ward 2 community associations are looking at collaborating with each other in hosting Community Cleanups considering this demand. Although Hawkwood may not have an annual Community Cleanup, by collaborating with other community associations and combining our volunteer resources, we are hoping our residents will have access annually to one in a neighbouring community.
