Hello Hawkwood!
Welcome to June and the official start of summer this month. I am looking forward to the longer days and the warmer nights and hope everyone has a great start to the summer season. As our soccer program winds down this month, please continue to be mindful of the pedestrian and vehicle traffic around the Hawkstone fields in the early evenings.
Our Events Committee just wrapped up working with our Parade of Garage Sales sponsor Melissa Kost Realty Group from CIR Realty for the community-wide event held on May 25. Thank you for all the work that went into organizing and promoting this event. I hope our sellers had a great turnout and the buyers found some great “new to them” treasures.
This month, the Events Committee is busy planning the community-wide Neighbour Day on June 15. Please watch HCA’s social media channels and hawkwoodca.com for regular updates. We will be in need of volunteers on the day of the event, so if you plan to attend, please consider signing up for a short shift to help out – the shifts are set up so folks can volunteer for the first or second half of the event, allowing them time to take in the event with their family and friends.
Hawkwood’s flower beds and planter arrangements are beginning to take form and I am looking forward to watching the displays bloom and flourish in the coming weeks. We are fortunate to live in a community that supports enhancing our physical spaces through the Landscape Enhancement Appreciation Fund (LEAF). Thanks to our LEAF Coordinator, Mark, for all his work on this program.
To celebrate the HCA’s 40th anniversary, we continue to recognize our volunteers. This month, I would like to acknowledge and thank all the volunteers who signed up for HCA’s Casino fundraiser held at Cowboys Casino May 4 to 5. These fundraisers provide HCA with a major source of revenue that is used to purchase equipment for our parks and gardens and offer programs and events to the community. Thank you to all who stepped up to fill the 40 shifts.
