We love it when an event comes together, piece by piece. A huge thanks to everyone who came out for the first-ever Winston Heights–Mountview Puzzle Swap. For our very first go at it, the turnout was amazing, and it was so much fun to see neighbours browsing tables, swapping puzzles, and chatting. So many people told us they loved the swap! It seems this event is a perfect fit.
We had hundreds of puzzles swapped over the course of the event, and people said they really liked the Puzzle Points system because it kept things fair and made the swapping easy (and surprisingly fun!). Any puzzles that didn’t find a new home were donated to Women in Need Society (WINS), so they’ll keep spreading the puzzle love a little further.
This event wouldn’t have worked without our fantastic volunteers, so a big shout-out and thank you to Suzanne Mott, Jan Pozsgay, Barb Monahan, Maggie Gervais-Hammill, Amber Buors, Gabrielle Lee, and Darren Nippers for checking in puzzles, explaining the points, keeping things moving, manning the bake sale, raffle table, and drinks bar, baking for the bake sale, and generally keeping the whole thing running smoothly. We couldn’t have done it without you!
With such a great response, we’re already planning to bring the Puzzle Swap back next year in early March. We’ll make a few tweaks to take care of some missing pieces (clearer drop-off and swap start times, more room between and around tables, extra volunteers, lots more elastics, and some music in the background to keep the vibe going).
If you have feedback about the puzzle swap or interest in other kinds of swaps, please contact Shannon at [email protected].
Thanks for helping piece our community together! See you next year!
