Howdy Rosemontians!

The quick rundown:

  1. AGM – November 25
  2. Rosehill Traffic Calming Pilot
  3. Christmas Market – December 11

Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. As of writing this in early October, the municipal election is in full swing, but you already know who won (lucky you). So, a big congratulations to the new mayor, whomever our councillor is, and the school board trustees. We look forward to working with them to keep improving Rosemont and the city at large. And congratulations on keeping or removing fluoride, keeping or removing daylight savings, and advocating or not advocating for removing equalization payments. These results were shocking or not shocking, depending on what happened. What an election…

Our annual AGM is Thursday, November 25 at 7:00 pm at our Hall. We encourage everyone to come out, see some familiar faces and learn what is going on for the upcoming year. We hope to have guests including Calgary Police, Rosemont School, MLA Nixon, possibly our councillor, and more. There will also be an online component for those who don’t feel comfortable in person, so check out RosemontCommunity.com/AGM for more information, including COVID protocols and to register. We may also have some draws for gift cards to local businesses for those who attend.

You may have noticed a few changes along the streets of Rosemont! As part of the Neighbourhood Streets Pilot Policy, the City of Calgary is working with the Rosemont Community Association and Rosemont School to pilot temporary curb extensions along Rosehill Drive NW. These curb extensions should reduce vehicle speeds through narrowing the street, reduce pedestrian crossing distance, and provide a more protected, visible space to wait before crossing. The City will be asking for your feedback on these pilot measures later this year.

You may also see a pop of colour near Rosemont School. While working with grade 4 and 5 students, we heard they wanted to see more colour, art, drawings, and murals on Rosemont streets. In response to these wishes, the City is working with local artist, Nicole Wolf, to add some colour, delight, and fun to the pathway in front of the school. We hope you can walk or bike over to check it out!

We are exciting to be hosting a Christmas Market this year on December 11 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the hall! There will be vendors with food, crafts, and all sorts of great holiday gifts. If you want to be a vendor, you can learn more and reserve your table for $39 by emailing [email protected].

For more information on the event itself, visit RosemontCommunity.com/Market as we will have all the details there.

And with the first signs of winter coming, the Ice Guys are gearing up for another great year of ice. If you want to freeze your buns off and have a great time, shoot me an email at [email protected] and I’ll put you in contact with Captain Kurt.

And if you haven’t done so, sign up for a free* Rosemont Community Membership by going to RosemontCommunity.com/Membership (*free if you live in Rosemont).

Stay safe and keep looking out for each other!
