Hello Springbank Hill Community Residents,

Thanks to the members of our community association who attended our Annual General Meeting on October 27. As you know, we are continuing to hold all our meetings virtually using Zoom Video and this was no exception. We used the opportunity to review our fiscal year-end audited financial statements as well as our budget and capital plan for the coming year. For your reference our year-end occurs on August 31, and this also coincides with the expiry of annual memberships from the previous year. We also confirmed the election of our board of directors at our AGM. As always, we welcome enquiries from our residents regarding volunteer and/or board opportunities. If you are looking for an opportunity to help us make our community a better place, please reach out, as I am sure we can find a role that will meet your needs and schedule availability. And we also continue to sell our annual memberships which can be purchased throughout the year on our website. Becoming a member will cost you only $25 per household and it helps us cover our operating costs so that we can continue to offer the various community programs, including events such as the annual Pumpkin Hunt hosted at our community park on October 22.

Many of you have been impacted by the various road closures and infrastructure improvement projects in our community. While inconvenient during construction, we are anticipating that the benefits will be evident when the work is completed. There are many new developments, residential, retail, and commercial in the area south of 17th Avenue, between 77th Street and 85th Street. We do have a planning committee staffed by volunteers, and they do review all projects, collect feedback from residents, and provide our comments to the city. While we are just one of many stakeholders, we do believe we can make a difference in impacting decisions at the city when our voices are heard. So do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns regarding the new developments and we will do our best to address them for you.

As we approach year-end work will begin to prepare our two seasonal ice rinks for operation, thanks to our many rink volunteers. Stay tuned for more details concerning plans for our two rinks.

Stay safe and healthy and enjoy the fall season!
