Cold weather incoming! It has been a hot summer, and I would say that, despite the ongoing pandemic, Triwood has made the most of it. I have to offer a huge thank you to all of our volunteers and staff who made our soccer program, summer camps, Stampede events, markets, movie nights, live shows, and other events a huge success this season!

With the onset of indoor activities, and the hall busier than ever, Triwood is ensuring that we meet the latest Alberta Health safety expectations. We have been participating in the Restrictions Exemption Program and will continue to do so until the latest COVID-19 regulations have been lifted. All visitors to the hall, over the age of 12, will require a proof of vaccination in order to gain entry.

This new reality hasn’t slowed our commitment to community events and programming. Fitness programs, community broomball, JT’s Clubhouse, and our Senior’s groups will continue to operate. The Confederation Park 55+ Activity Center, and several of our other regular users (such as hockey, ringette, dance programs) are all back to their regularly scheduled operations.

I urge everyone who hasn’t had a chance to visit JT’s Clubhouse yet, to please come by and give us a try! We have invested a lot into setting up a comfortable place for community members to gather, experience good food and drinks, watch a game, and even play some darts or pool for free. Throughout the pandemic, it has been difficult to establish a consistent schedule and menu at the pub, but I am confident that we have finally found our feet. Our new menu is bigger, chef prepared, and receiving rave reviews! The clubhouse is open from Monday to Thursday each week, from 4:00 to 10:00 pm (kitchen closes at 9:00 pm), as well as the last Friday of every month for special events (December excluded). Mondays are “Wing Night”, and Wednesdays are “Burger Night”. Don’t miss the amazing Triwood Burger (available every day of the week, but for only $5 every Wednesday)!

Finally, you may have also noticed that Triwood has been going through a number of changes to our community hall. We have installed new flooring in our Foothills Hall and attached a bathroom to the area. Our upstairs offices have been renovated, a new roofing system has been installed over the Charleswood Hall and a new accessibility ramp and chair lift is being installed in our front entrance way. Work will be completed in November, and we are looking forward to folks coming down to experience some of our new spaces! A huge thank you to the City of Calgary and the Province of Alberta for their funding towards these projects.

Have a great fall Triwood!
