AGM Update – May 12

We got a little excited about our Annual General Meeting. It will be May 12, not March 31. Apologies for any inconvenience and we look forward to seeing you there! Speaking of seeing you, our monthly association meetings that take place on the second Thursday of every month (except July and August) are once again being held in person. Meetings start at 7:00 pm at the Tuxedo Park Community Hall, 202 29 Ave NE.

Spring Is Almost Here

As I write this update, we’ve been enjoying a week of spring in February. This has me excited for the planning that our community association is doing. Our social committee is currently looking at summer get together events; movies in the park or a neighbour day anyone? They’re also exploring opportunities for our residents to visit in smaller groups. If you have an idea for an event or you would like to help with planning, please get in touch by emailing [email protected].

We’re also considering supporting the development of beach volleyball courts at 30th Ave and 2nd Street NE, helping to create year-round activity within this space. Let us know what you think by visiting tuxedoparkcommunity.ca and taking the Beach Volleyball Courts Questionnaire.

North Hill Local Area Plan and Heritage Areas

The city is currently developing discretionary guidelines to help support heritage areas. In Tuxedo Park, these heritage areas can be found along 20th and 19th Avenue. These new guidelines are intended to support compatible development in those districts. They will be shared for consultation in late March or early April. Follow our social media for more information.

What about individual properties?

Individual sites are not the intent of the current process. Sites such as the Tuxedo Park School are part of our community heritage that we would like to see preserved. If you’re concerned about individual buildings in our community, let us know by emailing [email protected].
