The Scenic Acres Community Association (SACA) is very active. They welcome community feedback in order to improve the Facilities, Programs, Events and Services they offer. These include pre-school dance, Line Dancing, numerous yoga classes, a pre-school literacy program, Girl Guides, Boy Scouts, and a wide variety of sports programs for children, youth and adults. To promote community spirit he association also hosts numerous community events such as a Family Day Skate, Bubble Gum Boogie Dances, Parade of Garage Sales, Stampede Breakfast, Movie In The Park, Christmas Craft Sale, Spring Fling/Christmas Shopping Extravaganza and a Community Christmas Party. In addition, the centre is host to numerous weddings, parties and family reunions throughout the year. SACA is constantly looking expand services to better meet the needs of residents, and continually welcomes community input and feedback.
Scenic Acres Community Demographics
In the City of Calgary’s 2012 municipal census, Scenic Acres had a population of 8,650 living in 2,921 dwellings, a -0.7% increase from its 2011 population of 8,710. With a land area of 4.3 km2 (1.7 sq mi), it had a population density of 2,012/km2 (5,210/sq mi) in 2012.
Residents in this community had a median household income of $100,156 in 2000, and there were 4.3% low income residents living in the neighbourhood. As of 2000, 17.5% of the residents were immigrants. All buildings, except for 3 sites of single-family attached houses, were single-family detached homes, and only 2.7% of the housing was used for renting.
