We Came, We Exchanged and We Planted! Community Garden Opens with Plant Exchange

by Mary Jo Leslie

Did you know the Glenbrook Greenthumbs Community Garden will celebrate its 15th anniversary next year? Not only are all of our garden beds taken, but we even have a wait list! This reflects how important the garden is to the community. It officially opened this year on Saturday, May 13 with our annual plant exchange. More than 30 people brought over 75 plants and many varieties of seeds. We learned more about the plants over coffee and cookies, and quickly added them to our gardens.

Shown are Agnes Wolstenholme, who helped make the garden a reality 14 years ago, Glenbrook super-volunteer Grace Stolte, generous gardener Riki Goebel, and long-time Glenbrook resident Jean Thomson.
