After completing sod upgrades last fall, the City of Calgary has advised that they are aiming to have the protective fence down at the end of April in order allow the sod time to establish well this spring. After the fence is down, they will continue to monitor it once the track has opened as well.
Please keep off the pump track until the fencing is removed. This will give the new sod the best chance to grow and prevent the need for future repairs. New sod is particularly vulnerable because its root system is not yet fully established. Riding on it disrupts the delicate process of the grass establishing itself, leading to damage that can be difficult and costly to repair.
