As the lights come down, the decorations are packed away, and the last of the leftovers disappear from our fridges, we officially bid farewell to 2025 and usher in 2026. 2025 was a year full of changes, growth, and most importantly our incredible community spirit. From wonderful events to those quiet moments of neighbours helping neighbours, the SCA and our staff say to you, thank you for being part of what makes our communities special and forming our foundation and DNA for many years ahead.

If January feels a little slower paced, you’re not alone and that’s perfectly okay. The “holiday hangover” is something many of us experience after weeks filled with gatherings, gift-giving, late nights, and jam-packed schedules. It’s normal to feel an energy dip, to notice lighter wallets, and to struggle with motivation as we transition back to normal routine. Just remember you don’t need to sprint into the new year. Let’s focus on recharging our energy, resetting routines, refocusing on what matters most, and above all taking small, meaningful steps forward.

As many of us have set personal goals around health, finances, family time, career growth, or simply finding better balance to life. Did you know it takes about 21 days to build a habit? The first week feels exciting. The second week feels challenging. The third week is where change truly begins. Remember to encourage each other and don’t let failure overtake determination.

January generally brings colder days and longer nights. Let’s continue to look out for our neighbours whether it’s checking in on seniors, offering a hand with snow removal, or simply sharing a friendly wave. Small gestures make a big difference after the “holiday hangovers”.

The new year invites us to start fresh and look ahead with optimism. In 2026, we’re excited to introduce new programs, new ideas, and new opportunities for everyone in our community. If you’ve ever considered getting involved, this is your moment whether it’s volunteering at an event, sharing an idea for a new program, or simply meeting more neighbours, 2026 is your year to get connected. Reach out to us at [email protected] or visit our refreshed website at www.scacalgary.ca and see how you can be more informed and engaged!

From the staff and Board of Directors at the SCA CA, we thank you for your community spirit throughout 2025. We wish you and your families a peaceful January, a healthy start to the year, and a purposeful 2026.

Warm regards,

SCA CA Board of Directors
