Volunteers Needed for Events
Our Special Event Committee is working hard to bring some new, exciting events to the lake. To make these events a success, we rely on the support of dedicated volunteers. If you or a family member can spare a little time to help, we’d love to have you involved. Please email [email protected] to learn more or to sign up.
Ice Safety
Lake staff will be closely monitoring the ice thickness and its condition throughout the winter season. Please remember, ice doesn’t form evenly across the lake – its thickness can vary widely from one area to another. Even if the ice appears solid in one area doesn’t mean that all ice on the lake is safe. Several factors can affect ice thickness, including:
• Ice forms more quickly over shallow water than over deeper water, making it thinner as you move away from the shoreline.
• Snow acts as an insulator, which means ice underneath is generally thinner and weaker. Thicker snow cover provides better insulation.
• Snow buildup – whether natural or piled – combines with fluctuating temperatures can create cracks, allowing water movement that thins the ice.
If you notice anything unusual such as strange ice patterns, holes, wet spots, or steam rising from the ice surface, please stay clear of the area and contact lake staff immediately!
