As of mid-December, thanks to our awesome volunteers, the Flavelle rinks were almost, but not quite ready. Jason and the rink crew have completed all the initial work to get the Flavelle Park ice rinks ready for the season and the first flood was done in early December. The crazy Alberta weather has been warm, then freezing, then… well, you know. More floods will be done to get the rinks ready for action. Please obey the signage at the park.

Rinkmaster Jason updates the page with rink conditions and use, and whenever he needs volunteers to help out. Members also post some great pictures of everyone using the rinks. Outdoor Rink Volunteer Opportunities for All Ages!
We are so excited for another great year of skating at the Flavelle Park! Here is a list of the different tasks required throughout the season. If any of them are something that you would be able to help with, then please contact [email protected] or visit our Facebook page Flavelle Rink Crew. All ages are welcome to help out.
Flooding – We have a water truck to come pour usually early evenings and sometimes daytime. Assist the truck where needed and monitor the boards and tarp to make sure things are in order.
Maintaining – Throughout the season we monitor holes and other issues with the ice. While the rink isn’t being used you can use hot water and snow to make slush and fill in the holes. We also do some general cleanup which makes for a better experience for all.
Take down – At season-end, we take the rink apart. A larger group makes disassembly, loading and moving to storage at the Fairview Park, much easier.
