Hello Residents,

Laycock Park – Construction Update 2018/2019

Laycock Park is going through some changes this summer. Starting July 16th, Water Services will begin work to build a maintenance access road to the recently installed oil grit separator and repaired outfall that are part of the Nose Creek sanitary sewer trunk project. The pedestrian pathway through the park will be closed and users will be detoured onto Blackthorne Road N.E. There will be an access point for users of the baseball diamond. This project will take three weeks to finish.

After this project is done, Calgary Parks will be life-cycling the pathway through the park as it is in poor shape. Calgary Parks will also be building a second playground with an ADA (American Disabilities Act) accessible surface and swing to compliment the playground built in 2016. Total of both projects will take 6 weeks.

Calgary Transportation will also be replacing the bridge that crosses Nose Creek. The old bridge was closed in 2013, and the new bridge will be able to withstand a 1 in 100-year flood, a level that exceeds the 2013 flows.

Finally, in 2019 the completion of the Nose Creek sanitary sewer trunk will be done, and repaving of the parking lot on the east side of Nose Creek, construction of a basketball court, and construction of the vanishing pond.

This is good news for all residents who enjoy this park, and the pathways often. Thank you to Calgary Transportation, Calgary Parks, and Water Services for the work they are doing to make our community better. For a map of the area, with more information click here – Calgary.ca/LaycockPark.
