Time flies! It’s hard to believe this is my last president’s message after two years in the role. I truly appreciate the support of my fellow board members and Association staff. As I reflect on all we accomplished together, some of the highlights include the recent completion of major upgrades at the community centre, the growth of community programs including gentle fitness for older adults and summer day camps for kids, and successful events that get bigger and better every year such as the Community Recycling Day, Stampede Breakfast and Christmas Craft Market. In addition, I am glad to have had the opportunity to work with the City on the This is My Neighbourhood project which resulted in public art displayed throughout the community.
The best part of volunteering in the community through my roles on the board of directors was the opportunity to meet a great group of people who truly care about their community. If you are inspired to get more involved in the community and are willing to volunteer some time and energy to make a positive difference, please consider joining the Board. It is very rewarding to advocate for the community and see projects you care about come to fruition.
