Regular board meetings resumed in September with meetings to be held on the second Wednesday of each month. The new year kicked off with a visit from Olympic gold medallist Michelle Cameron who spoke to board members on behalf of YesCalgary2026 about the merits of Calgary hosting the Winter Olympics.
Ward 6 Cllr. Jeff Davison gave us an update from City Council, including news of the City’s Olympic plebiscite, which is to be held on Nov. 13, 2018 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. There will be a polling station for the plebiscite at the Glendale Community Hall.
The question on the ballot will be: “Are you for or are you against Calgary hosting the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games?”
You can choose: __ I am for Calgary hosting or __ I am against Calgary hosting. Make sure you cast your vote and make your voice heard.
- The board is very pleased to announce that we have a new community centre maintenance vehicle that will be used for rink, lawn and property maintenance. The new Kubota tractor replaces our old machine that has been running on spare parts for a couple of years now. The new tractor is sure to be a workhorse for our awesome community volunteers. - Trick or Treat? Glendale’s annual family Halloween party is set for Oct. 27, 5-9 p.m. at the Community Hall. This is one of our can’t-miss family socials of the year where mom and dad have almost as much fun as the kids! Cost is only $10 per family for Glendale Community members and $20 for non-members. - It was a great wedding season for some of our favourite Glendale kids who are now all grown up. Congratulations to Jillian Rogers and Brady Compton who were married Aug. 18 at Crowsnest Pass, Alta.
