We trust that you have taken some time this year to visit and explore Fish Creek Provincial Park – a truly breathtaking natural area that we are fortunate to have within the city. As we prepare for winter and approach the busy holiday season, you may have begun considering which charitable organizations you will support with a year-end donation.
Fish Creek is a cherished urban greenspace that spans the southern end of the city and has been enhancing the lives of community members since it opened nearly fifty years ago. Generations of Calgarians have been coming here to relax, unwind, and reconnect with nature, and each year, more people discover new ways to enjoy this park. Fish Creek Provincial Park is a relatively small area when compared to other provincially protected parks in the Kananaskis Management Area, but it experiences a growing number of visitors each year. For an area that means so much to so many, Fish Creek receives very little direct funding from the Provincial Government and much of that funding is allocated to infrastructure like washrooms, building renovations, and routine maintenance.
The Friends of Fish Creek are proud of our role as the link between community members like you who visit the park, and Alberta Environment and Parks who manages this area. As a member of the Fish Creek community, you share our vision of a sustainable Fish Creek Provincial Park that improves the quality of life for present and future generations, showing that you would like to ensure that this area is protected and preserved long into the future.

While we do receive some financial support through grants for stewardship activities, many of our programs and activities are not funded. The Friends rely on program fees, donations, sponsorships, memberships, and fundraising efforts to continue our essential work here in Fish Creek Provincial Park. Our programs engage people in meaningful conservation and hands-on stewardship work related to wildlife, invasive species, human-wildlife interactions, and other issues surrounding this park.
