The 2018/2019 Scouting season was off to a great start for 245 Arbour Lake Scout Troop!
Our Scouts (ages 11-14) wasted no time getting out tenting under a blanket of snow for ‘The Great Escape Camp’ over Sept 28-30 weekend. ‘The Great Escape’ is a Survivor type game of nighttime tag spanning over 1000 acres near Drumheller with almost 1,000 Scouts and Venturers participating. A BIG thank you to ATCO for providing an enormous shelter that kept everyone warm and dry.
Our Cub Scouts (Ages 8-10) had a busy month working on Vertical and ScoutCraft activities. The group took in a lesson at the Mount Royal Climbing Wall as well as trying their hands at tying different knots. They also have been out on their bikes as a group, learning about bicycle safety and maintenance.
Our Beavers (Ages 5-7) have been working on paddling techniques, using PFDs and boating safety. They are very excited about their first camp in October for an overnight Camp In at the Royal Tyrrell Museum. How fun to sleep among the dinosaurs in Dinosaur Hall and attend programming at the ATCO Tyrrell Learning Centre!
A great big THANK YOU to our Arbour Lake community for contributing to our September Bottle Drive! Your donations are critical to support programming for the 245 Arbour Lake Scouting Troop. With your help, our Scouts are learning and developing into great citizens of the world. Scouts Popcorn Sales start Oct 1st! For more information or to order, please call 403-805-2494.
