March was the kick off to our spring cookie campaign. Units have been out selling our Classic Sandwich cookies. Don’t fret if you prefer the Chocolatey Mint cookies as we have some of those as well! Cookies are still $5 per box so hopefully you’ve been hoarding your change! If we’ve missed you, please email Melanie to get yours now (see below).

This month, we are featuring our 45th Calgary Rangers who will be travelling to Thailand in 2020 to volunteer in an elephant sanctuary. Rangers are our oldest girl members at 15-18 years old and they find a variety of ways to fundraise their way to have these valuable experiences. Since Girl Guides is part of an international organization, the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), travelling around the world educates the girls about issues that affect our Guiding sisters. The girls learn to understand global issues and explore new cultures and communities. Travelling allows the girls to not only learn about our world but to learn about themselves as well.

We are still accepting registrations in some units and you don’t need previous guiding experience to join. If you want to enroll your daughter, please visit www.girlguides.ca and look for the registration information. Ladies, if you are interested in making a difference in girls’ lives, today’s a great day to get started as a leader. You don’t need to be a parent to participate as a guider either as we encourage all women to volunteer with Girl Guides. Training is provided and support is available. Join a unit now. Contact Melanie at [email protected] if you’re interested in more information.
