Your Renfrew Community Association has two new board members. Maddie Bemrose is the new director of Transportation & Mobility. This position has been vacant for a while, so she is actively seeking community members who are interested in improving transportation and mobility in Renfrew to form a committee. If you have ideas about walking, biking, traffic, etc. and want to get involved, email Maddie at [email protected]. Jamie Dugdale is the new director of Planning & Development. He leads the committee that monitors planning concerns and developments that might affect Renfrew’s residents. If you’re interested in these issues, Jamie can be reached at [email protected].

The following board positions are still open: President, VP Operations, and Community Health & Wellness director. If you’d like to help out, whether it’s joining a committee or filling a role on the board, please email Past President Mikki Dergusoff at [email protected], or come out to the next board meeting on Tuesday, February 25 at 7:00 pm.

Have you noticed an increase or decrease in air traffic and noise in Renfrew? Our neighbourhood representative on the Airport Community Consultative Committee (ACCC) reports that a new runway usage trial at the airport began in October 2019, which attempts to mitigate aircraft noise in communities, including Renfrew. A previous trial was cancelled after statistics indicated it actually increased the number of aircraft over Renfrew, mostly during night and weekend hours. For more details, read the ACCC report in this newsletter.

We have many fun and exciting events coming up at the RCA hall, including a Jelly Bean Dance, a fun LEGO event (Note: this has moved to Saturday, April 4), and the annual Easter Eggstravaganza. And, believe it or not, we’re getting ready for Stampede Day 2020 — help is always needed at the breakfast, the children’s carnival, the BBQ, etc., so if you’re interested, sign up at www.volunteersignup.org/Q94EC.
