Hi all, it sure has been a long time since I wrote a message to the Community.
As mentioned at our AGM last November; 2024 is the Community Association’s 75th Anniversary. We will be celebrating at our AGM in November with a cake and a special talk about the history of the Airfield that once lived in Renfrew. Join us on November 22!
This summer, I, with the help of a few community members, have been going through all the stuff that accumulates at the community hall and deciding if we should hold on to it or what have you. In this, I hope to find some Archives and such, and am wondering if anyone outside the Board from before 2017 knows much about business of the Renfrew Board. I don’t want to miss any history that might be deemed important. A shift within the organization back in 2017-2018 highlighted some gaps.
The Community Association wishes to bring back some of the telltale activities of the past but also bring in some new community traditions that hold true to its members. Please complete our engagement survey to give us feedback on what else we can do for our members.
Stampede Breakfast was a success and with over 970 people lining up for pancakes we ran out of food. It looks like we are back to pre-pandemic levels for willingness to get together as a community. If you did come down you probably noticed we brought back the Kids Carnival, 129 families played games and won prizes. Next year we hope to bring back more of the old time Stampede Day celebrations.
Thank you again,
Mary Grace Linton
RCA President
