A long-time Brentwood resident, Lee Hunt, has been awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal. The award commemorates the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III as King of Canada and is presented to recipients who “have made a significant contribution to Canada or to a particular province, territory, or community”.

Len Webber, the Member of Parliament for Calgary Confederation, presented the award to Lee on Friday, November 29, 2024, at the Silver Springs Golf Course.

Lee Hunt has dedicated years of service to her community through many volunteering and philanthropic initiatives. Lee is very familiar to Brentwood residents as a monthly contributor to the Bugle. She has acted as co-chair for the creation of four community murals, most recently the wonderful mural on the Brisebois underpass. It was Lee’s idea to create a mural to beautify the area, and she followed through with many months of work to arrange for funding, volunteers, and organization of the painting event.

While Lee supports many causes, she has a special passion for Rosedale Hospice. She donates financially to them regularly, plus has participated in the Hike for Hospice for each of the past five years. Lee has established the Hospice Calgary Winthers Walker Fund for staff development at Rosedale Hospice.

She has also established the McNeill Hunt Bursary at St. Thomas More College at the University of Saskatchewan. This bursary is awarded to a second-year student in need of financial support.

On behalf of Brentwood residents, congratulations on the award, Lee! We are lucky to have such a dedicated and active volunteer in our community.
