Season’s Greetings, Happy Holidays, and Merry Christmas from the Evanston Creekside Community Association (ECCA)! We wish you and yours a safe, festive, and joyous season.

Our Community Park (115 Evanston Drive NW)

We have made some wonderful additions to the Park this autumn – overheard solar string lights, solar tree lights, a book cabinet, and a pergola. A reminder that the Park is under the ECCA’s control. We are responsible for all maintenance and funding including grass, trees, fire pit, benches, and garbage – and we do so all as volunteers. Please be mindful of this when using the Park. If you see something such as overflowing bins, contact us at [email protected]. Together we can keep this fantastic public space welcoming for everyone.

Book Club, Anyone?

The new book cabinet, built and donated by an anonymous community, was added to the Park last month. Residents are already coming and going with books which is great to see. Let us know at [email protected] if you are interested in an Evanston Book Club!

January Skating for All

Want to skate for free? The ECCA and Skate Shack return this year with KidSport Canada. Our date is Saturday, January 18 at our Community Park. Skates will be free to rent for the entire family. There will be hot drinks, entertainment, and the fire pit to keep us all warm. We will need volunteers to successfully run the event so please email [email protected]. This date is also Hockey Day in Canada, and we will mark the start of the ECCA’s 18th birthday celebration week.

Community Garden Committee

Are you interested in helping shape the community garden at the Community Park? We would love your input and assistance whether you have an avid green thumb or have an eye for design or want to get involved in your community. Please email [email protected] for information about the committee and how you can join.

People Power!

The ECCA Board has taken great strides and created momentum and activity in recent months. The entire Board is comprised of volunteers who put hours into running the non-profit company we call a community association. We recently formally recognized the following Directors for their contributions:

Karl Alexander, Director of Public Spaces, who has kept the Community Park’s grass, bins and trees in top shape. Mike Stiles, Director of Safety, who organized and oversaw the construction of the pergola, posts for overhead lights and book cabinet. Maricel McDonald, Director, who has supported and coordinated the volunteers for our events this summer and autumn. Thank you!

If you are interested in joining our enthusiastic Board, please contact us. We would love to hear from you! There are nearly 21,000 people who call Evanston home – we are certain many of you have ideas and willing to help your community.
