A “Little Free Library” is a “take a book, return a book” free book exchange that promotes building community, encourages literacy, sparks creativity, and inspires readers. The library itself is a wooden box that can be built in any shape or size that anyone in the community can use to take or share a book.
The HVCA is looking for some community volunteers willing to help build a ‘Little Library” to be placed at the Hidden Hut. We are also looking for the following donation of materials to make our library come to fruition:
- Most LFLs are constructed from 3/4” plywood.
- The face frame and doors are constructed from solid lumber (mostly 3/4” x 1.5”)
- Plexi-glass for door (if desired)
- Self-closing hinges.
- Screws for assembly
- Green paint (to match the Hidden Hut)
- Topcoat paint
- 4×4, 5ft long mounting post
If anyone with carpentry skills is willing donate some time to build our library or willing to donate some of the materials above, please contact [email protected].
