Hello, it has been a while since I gave an update on what has been happening at the community centre. Our gym has been very busy with rentals and my spirits are always lifted by the sound of our youth laughing and playing their favourite sports in the gym.
The HVAC and roof repair projects are still in the works, and we are waiting for the City of Calgary departments to provide the information on the scope of work that we need to move this project to the next phase. I will provide updates as we work with the City to find the best way forward.
There are a number of upcoming events that I hope you will mark in your calendars.
• Community Cleanup Day – May 21 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm
There is an article in this issue of the Beacon that outlines all of the items that are accepted and those items that are not being accepted.
In previous years, HH-BH had a ‘give and take’ table, unfortunately the COVID-19 pandemic made it impossible to offer this at the cleanup for the last couple of years, but now that life has returned to ‘normal,’ it would be possible to bring the ‘give and take’ table back. If there is anyone in our community who would like to undertake this project, please contact me at the office at 403-282-6634.
• Casino Fundraiser – June 10 and 11 at Cowboys Casino
• Neighbor Day Summer Solstice – June 17
• HH-BH Stampede Breakfast – July 15
As always, we need volunteers for each event. Without you, these events would not be possible. Please visit hh-bh.ca to signup for a shift at any or all of these great events or call me anytime.
Watch for more information on these events in upcoming issues.
Until the next time, be kind and take care.
