This year’s Halloween brought a remarkable display of creativity, joy, and community spirit to our neighbourhood. As the sun set on October 31, families, friends, and excited trick-or-treaters took to the sidewalks, eager to see the decorations that so many residents thoughtfully prepared. The result was a warm, welcoming atmosphere that made the evening memorable for children and adults alike.

One home that truly embraced the season was located at 4807 Montana Crescent NW. Their front yard was transformed into a playful, spooky graveyard, complete with skeletons, ghouls, and hanging spectres. Children approached cautiously at first, but their nervousness quickly gave way to laughter and curiosity. It was a perfect example of how Halloween décor can be spooky without being overwhelming for younger trick-or-treaters.

Another stand-out home was at 2511 48 St NW, where dramatic lighting and a towering gargoyle created a theatrical Halloween scene. As dusk settled, the red and orange glow made the entire space feel like an enchanted courtyard. The children, including some in costumes of dragons, witches, and friendly monsters, ran up the driveway with excitement.

A home at 4437 17 Ave NW delighted families with illuminated inflatable characters and a whimsical Halloween display. The colourful lights and cheerful decorations gave the evening a celebratory tone, and many children returned for a second look simply because the scene was so joyful and welcoming.

One of the most heartwarming parts of the night was seeing neighbours connect. At 4439 21 Ave NW, residents set up a welcoming front-yard fire and offered warm greetings to trick-or-treaters and parents alike. In fact, all of these decorations were hand crafted! At another home 1907 43 St NW, a family hosted a community pizza station, creating a space where people stopped not just to collect treats, but to talk, laugh, and enjoy the evening together.

It is important to highlight that these are only a small sample of the many beautifully decorated and thoughtfully prepared homes in our community. From carved pumpkins to hanging lanterns, from spooky window silhouettes to glowing walkways, countless neighbours helped make Halloween special this year. The true success of the night was not in any single display, but in the shared effort to create a safe and magical experience for our children.
