May and June Focus
Our RCA Board is moving onto anticipating what can and will happen for the community in May and June. Our board has a follow-up retreat on May 10 to continue evolving our structure. We will be presenting changes to our bylaws to allow for three additional Board members, including the Past President as part of the board and updating the quorum requirements for membership voting. The plan will be to call a Special General Meeting to approve for submission to Corporate Registry to be able to implement at our Annual General Meeting (November 2024).
Community Improvements
With the help of our Neighbourhood Partnership Coordinator, RCA is accessing grant money to improve spaces in the community, including the area surrounding the hall and our building. We appreciate the support of the City.
Ranchlands Food Pantry continues to support many residents during difficult times. We encourage people to share their Facebook post requests – I know this is effective as last week after I shared, two people – one in another neighbourhood and another in Nova Scotia made donations! Please keep spreading the word, and know that every donation, regardless of size is valued.
Community Events for May and June
We are hosting a ‘Jane’s Walk’ on Sunday, May 5 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. We will explore the pathways and walk for about 90 minutes around the neighbourhood sharing stories, past and present. This is the link to register for Ranchlands Community Walk – Jane’s Walk: calgarycommunities.com.
From May 9 to 12, all young and not so young kids and parents are invited to join the community hunt in the first ever Pollen Pursuit. It sounds like it is going to be lots of fun. And don’t forget to mark your calendars for the Parade of Garage Sales (June 1), the Treasure Chest (June 2), and the Community Cleanup (June 8). More details to follow.
I look forward to meeting many of you at one of our events.
